What is Joint Vibration Analysis (JVA)?

BioJVA is a diagnostic aid used to measure how jaw joints are functioning. This is valuable information to gather before starting any case that repositions the mandible in order to ensure the best outcome. BioJVA or Joint Vibrational Analysis is a quick, non-invasive method for objectively evaluating the Temporomandibular Joints. In less than five minutes, our team can perform a test that analyzes the stability and function of the Temporomandibular Joint and evaluate whether TMD is present and if treatment is in order. Much the way dentists evaluate the wear on the teeth, JVA gives us insight into the health of the jaw joint. BioJVA Joint Vibrational Analysis is based on the simple principles of motion and friction. When smooth surfaces rub together, they create little friction and vibration. If these surfaces become rough, friction and vibration are created as the surfaces articulate. The Bio JVA works by recording and displaying the measurement of movement as simple, digestible, data through the BioPAK™ software. Jaw joint vibrations have been researched extensively with thousands of documented cases of various dysfunction. Joint vibration analysis helps clinicians identify disturbances with various types of dysfunction found on the Piper Scale of jaw joint dysfunction. The unique solution BioJVA™ provides is its ability to diagnose quickly and treat TMD without causing pain.

When is JVA Used?

Joint Vibration Analysis is often used to: • Diagnose TMJ disorders (clicking, popping, pain) • Assess joint health following facial or jaw trauma • Evaluate jaw function and detect signs of early joint damage • Monitor the effectiveness of TMJ treatments

"I have had a LOT of dentists in my life (I've moved a zillion times) but the folks at Erskine Family are THE BEST I've EVER had by far. I just had two fillings redone in spots that have previously been very painful and problematic for other dentists to deal with. At Erskine, it could not have been a better experience, and the resin fillings look beautiful. They are so skilled, nice, helpful, and organized. Thank you all,"
